Family Values
Life means far more than many of us ever dream of; it is not merely passing through this world with a fair measure of comforts, with enough bread for our hunger, with enough rainment to keep us warm. Life does not consist of things possessed. It's not big cars and spacious homes. Having one's name in the book of "Who's Who" does not make one more alive. All of these things would be thrown overboard from a sinking ship in order to save one's life.
Life means people who love one another, who share joys and sorrows, who hurt with one another and laugh as each one laughs. Life means growing into physical and spiritual adults. When one is being formed in the image of Christ, he is being fulfilled. When his strength and character are becoming like that of Christ, he is becoming a well-rounded human. He is being prepared for the day when he must give an account of himself before a holy God.
When one finds peace of mind even amidst the adversities of life, he has found a peace which only God can give. When one comes to a river too wide to cross, or a mountain too high to scale, or a valley too deep to pass through and he stands helplessly alone, until a small voice inside says, "Reach up, for I am here to guide you and help you." Then he reaches up his small frail hand and feels the mighty hand of God take hold of his and he knows that everything is going to be okay. It is then that he can experience a quietness and confidence which no external circumstances can break. But each of us must be taught these things.
The Joy of a Family
What a blessing is the family. How joyful are the days of childhood. The Children should have the opportunity to "be children". They should be afforded the privilege of deciding for themselves if they want to follow Jesus Christ and life eternal or if they want to reject him and be forever lost. These things will only be taught and they will be brought to a point to where they can make an intelligent decision if they are brought up in a Bible preaching, true to the Word of God Church.
However, if the family does not make the Church a vital part of their life, the children will never experience the privledge of choice. They will know only the worldly side of life which ends in a pitiful state.
We would be less than truthful if we said or taught that we have all the answers to life's many problems. Life is so complex that no one has all the answers.
